The Delmade Heavy Duty Ripper Pipe Layer Hose Reel unit is an extremely effective combination implement capable of laying up to 140mm pipe, along with most fittings and joiners on most common pipe sizes.
There is no need to unroll the pipe before laying it. It simply fits on the reel, saving majority of the time usually taken to lay pipe using a traditional ripper.

The Delmade Ripper Pipe Layer features a Hose Reel attachment with hydraulic height adjustment. This means large rolls of poly pipe are easily loaded when the reel is lowered. When fully raised to a vertical position, the pipe unrolls directly into the inlet of the pipe layer. Making a smooth, trouble-free operation. There are two sizes of reel available: the 2.8m for most common rolls of pipe and the 3.2m for large rolls of pipe weighing up to 1 tonne.

How to measure your pipe
You need to measure the widest point of what you're laying. So, if you are using fittings/joiners this will be the fitting/joiner and if you're not using fittings/joiners this will be the poly pipe.
Simply lay your tape over the widest point. This is the measurement that you need to enter into the calculator.
For example in the image below the tape measurement is at 50mmm. So, you would in turn put 50 into the calculator.
How does the calculator work
What the calculator does is checks the dimension entered against the aperture of the box. Allowing for a 5mm clearance on either side of the pipe or fitting. (The aperture is a measure of how wide the box is. 👇 Pictured below.)

We've certainly got electricians running cabling through it and conduit through it for centre pivots. It comes down to measureing the width of your pipe and matching the right Ripper Pipe Layer to your conduit/cable.
Ideally, you do a pass and make sure you've got no obstacles, roots or anything. And then do a second pass to lay the pipe.
If you want to shallow them up, you can run it whatever depth you want.
Pre-ripping is doing a dry ripping run without the pipe. It's good practice to pre-rip so you can identify any obstacles like rock in your path before laying the pipe. You do have the option to remove the layer box for pre-ripping as well.
Correct. It's held on with little D-clip pins. You just unpin it, pull it off, slip your roll on and then pin the side back on.
It's one of those things. You're not doing it fast. If you hit something, usually you'll just pull up the tractor.
We can do it as an option. The standard hitch is 3 point linkage. But we do build to suit quick hitches as an option.
We quite often do, but it's not a standard thing.
You could kind of say it has hydraulic downforce, but it wasn't really designed as hydraulic downforce. It was more designed to be able to have that one metre deep shank and still be able to lift it up when your linkage is right up.
We would always recommend pre-ripping if you've got rocky or tight ground. Some people will run a dozer through with a bigger ripper first and then go in with one of our rippers.
Based in Tasmania, but we ship them out of our Melbourne warehouse. They're manufactured in Tasmania.
When we send them out they're just on half a pallet and you just bolt them together in the paddock.
The only consumable would be the replaceable point on the bottom. It is reversible, so you can get double the life out of one point.
The only other points of maintenance would be each end of the pivoting yellow arm, there's a grease nipple. That's the only three things on there that could wear or need greasing.
That's pretty simple. There's one main pivot bolt on the yellow arm. Undo that and undo a standard pin on the ram. Then one pin on the layer box which you unclip and lift off and you've basically got a straight line ripper.
It's got a frame that mounts to the tractor on your three-point linkage and then it's got arms coming back to the ripper unit. It allows a longer tine on there. If we put a longer tine on the standard unit, most tractors wouldn't be able to lift it off the ground.
With the pipe layers, we sell those direct out of our Melbourne warehouse. We ship Australia wide and have units operating right across Australia as well.
The ripper comes out standard as Category 2. It can be bushed up to Cat 3 if you need it to be. And we do offer options to go into Cat 4, 5 or to suit Quick Hitchs as a custom option.
If you did have the bigger quick hitch, like a fixed quick hitch style, we would have to run some measurements over it to see if it's going to fit up or whether we would have to make a wider one for you.
We would recommend getting the following infomation from your pipe supplier:
- Size of the pipe & joiners you are using (to match the correct layer box size)
- Inner diameter, outer diameter & width of the roll (to match the correct reel size)
Yes, the bigger 150 mm layer box will still feed the smaller pipe properly.
The only reason we usually recommend going for the smaller 105 mm layer box, if you're confident you won't need the bigger 150 mm one, is:

If you do need to upgrade in the future, it's very easy to do. It's simply a matter of getting the 150 mm box, unpinning the 105 mm box, and pinning the larger 150 mm box on.

Is that it uses less horsepower to pull the smaller 105 mm box through the ground than it does to put the 150mm through the ground.
